Dracula Map is a place where we want to tell how a particular place is connected to Bram Stoker’s Dracula. We hear very often in Romania that people are visiting, for example, Dracula’s Castle (aka Bran Castle), but what does that mean? How is Bran Castle connected to this book, which made it so common for people to refer to it as Dracula’s Castle?
We are featuring at the moment four categories: Fiction, History, Literature, and Business. The Fiction category is showing places that are featured in the novel Dracula. So we tell exactly the excerpts from the book where that particular place is mentioned by the fictional characters, along with other interesting information that we have found. The History category is featuring places related to Vlad the Impaler (Tepes). We know that Bram Stoker, in his research, learned about the life and actions of this medieval ruler of Wallachia and was inspired by him. The Literature category is featuring the works and research of Bram Stoker or other sources that inspired him to write Dracula. We also consider that the businesses that are promoting Dracula deserve to be featured here, so we created a category for them, too.
We have to say that this is probably a never ending project, as we will be discovering many stories and locations that are worthy to pin on Dracula Map. Also, Dracula started an entire vampire genre, so we are planning to go beyond Dracula and feature locations related to other cool vampire stories. We want our readers to learn exactly how a particular place is connected to this great genre. We also thank Dacre Stoker for his resources, stories and legitimacy of some of the information we are featuring here.
