Events explained by Stefan Andreescu in his book, Vlad Tepes (Dracula) between legend and historical facts, 1976: May 11, 1453: The capitulary in Alba Iulia confirmed that the Seven Seats had come into possession of the Tălmaciu domain. May 15, 1454: Oswald Wenczel, mayor of Sibiu, expressed fear for his city due to Turkish presence in Wallachia. May 1458: Sultan Mehmet II sent his vizier Mahmud Pasha the Greek with 30,000 Turks to guard the Danube. May 25, 1458: Vlad the Impaler sent a letter to Braşov from Gherghiţa. May 17 and 20, 1462:Vlad the Impaler’s envoy was attested in the accounts of Caffa, seeking aid in Crimea, to fight the Ottomans. May 26, 1462: King Matthias Corvin accepted the conditions of Emperor Frederic III in Buda; the same day he announced his intention to go "fight the Turks." Jonathan realizes he is "in the toils" as the Count insists he write the post-dated letters to prevent anyone from suspecting foul play when he eventually disappears. Dracula asks Jonathan to write the three letters to England, saying: 1) June 12th, his work is done; 2) June 19th, he is returning home; 3) June 29th, he has arrived at Bistritz.

Jonathan returns to the forbidden room in daylight and finds the door splintered but locked from the inside, confirming his experience with the women was not a dream.

Lucy writes to Mina from London, mentioning picture galleries and rides in the park. She confesses her love for Arthur Holmwood and mentions meeting Dr. John Seward, whom she finds to be a "psychological study."
