Early in the morning, Renfield is found with a fractured skull and broken back; before dying, he confesses that Dracula visited him and that he tried to fight the Count to protect Mina; the group rushes to the Harkers’ room and finds Dracula forcing Mina to drink blood from his breast while Jonathan lies in a stupor; Dracula escapes as a vapor; later that day, the group sterilizes the boxes at Carfax and Piccadilly with the Sacred Wafer; Dracula briefly confronts them at Piccadilly but escapes by leaping out a window.
