Full Moon – the horror and fantastic movie festival, is back

The ninth edition of the Full Moon Festival is going to take place in Biertan, Sibiu county, Romania, during August 9-11, 2024. The organizers are planning movie screenings, outdoor activities, a ghost hunt, bike rides, and tastings of traditional products from Transylvania.

Biertan is part of the first German Saxon settlements in Transylvania and in 1397 it was certified as a fortress. Like any Saxon settlement, it had an urban organization, with Franconian style of the rows of houses arranged around a central square, above which rises the imposing church-fortress. The impressive religious monument harmoniously combines Gothic and Renaissance styles, being defended by three enclosure walls with medieval towers and bastions. For 300 years, between 1572 and 1867, Biertan was the seat of the Saxon Episcopy, which favored the construction of one of the strongest peasant fortresses in Transylvania, around the fortified church.
