Jonathan realizes he is “in the toils” as the Count insists he write the post-dated letters to prevent anyone from suspecting foul play when he eventually disappears. Dracula asks Jonathan to write the three letters to England, saying: 1) June 12th, his work is done; 2) June 19th, he is returning home; 3) June 29th, he has arrived at Bistritz.
